What is a UCITS Fund?

UCITS stands for "Undertakings for the Collective Investment in Transferable Securities” 😂 - and you thought last night’s 🍕 was a mouthful…

Long-winded abbreviations aside, any fund with a UCITS stamp on it has been approved by and is regulated to a high standard by the European Commission (EC). It’s an international gold-standard stamp of approval signalling that the fund meets the EC’s strict regulatory and investor protection requirements.

UCITS funds are therefore generally seen as safe / well-regulated investments - popular with investors globally who prefer to invest in funds over picking out single stocks.

This popularity is clear when you look at the numbers - the total value of assets owned by UCITS Funds went past the €10 trillion(!) mark in 2019! To put that into perspective, the total market value of all publicly listed stocks globally is currently somewhere between €60 - 70 trillion 😰

If a UCITS Fund sounds like your kind of investment, you’re in luck because we’ll have hundreds of them available upon launch in the Evarvest app!

Please know, the value of investments can go up as well as down and you may receive back less than your original investment, meaning, when investing your capital is at risk.
